How to Clean a Fish Tank With the Pipeline

A pipeline fish tank uses a pipe to connect two sections of a fish tank. This makes for an interesting aesthetic appearance, as the fish swim between the two tanks via the pipeline. The process for cleaning a pipeline fish tank mirrors that of cleaning a regular fish tank. You simply need to account for the pipeline while cleaning.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the fish from your tank. Place them in a small bowl containing water, during the cleaning operation. Cover the lid of the bowl, to prevent the fish from getting out.

    • 2

Turn off and remove your filter. Remove the water from your fish tank, using a bucket. Alternatively, carry the fish tank over toward a drain, and drain the water directly out of the tank.

    • 3

Use a gravel vacuum to clean the gravel at the bottom of your tank.

    • 4

Use a brush to scrub any algae or other debris off the sides of the tank. Then use the brush on the pipeline. If you can’t readily access it, remove the top portion of the pipeline, and then scrub the pipeline. Put the piece back into position once you finish.

Replace the water. Place the fish back in the bowl, and turn the filter back on.
