How to Make a Pixie Hat With Paper
Pixies are small, woodland creatures similar to fairies. Many artists depict pixies as wearing cone-shaped hats on their heads, similar to elves. Making a paper pixie hat is not difficult. The advantage of using a paper hat over a cloth hat is that paper hats take less time to make, and most people have the supplies to make paper hats right at home. You can also make a cloth pixie hat if you wish to have a longer-lasting hat.

1
Draw a triangle onto a piece of paper 13 inches high and 13 inches wide. Cut off the bottom edge of the paper, rounding the corners.
-
2
Fold a large sheet of card stock in half. Place one long edge of the triangle along the folded edge of the paper. Cut around the pattern with scissors.

-
3
Align the edges of the paper hat so that a cone shape is formed. Staple the edges of the paper together to hold the cone shape.
-
4
Paint the hat the desired color. Many pixies wear green or brown hats. Allow the glue to dry for at least two hours.
-
5
Punch a hole into the bottom edge on opposite sides of the hat. String a 12-inch piece of elastic string between the holes and tie in place. Use the elastic string to hold the hat onto the head.

6
Embellish the hat as desired. Glue ribbon, rickrack, pom-poms, flowers or other embellishments to the hat with craft glue.
