How to Decorate With Perfume Bottles

Use many types of perfume bottles to decorate your home.

The use of perfume dates back to Egyptian times, providing both men and women with a variety of scents to enhance their smell. The Egyptians created the first perfume bottles out of a variety of materials such as alabaster and glass. Today, the variety and elegance of the perfume bottles vary as much as the scents, and therefore provide you with a creative item to use when decorating your home.

Instructions

1. Install a small glass shelf in your bathroom above your toilet or other small space. Follow the instructions for installation and use a level to ensure the shelf is straight. Place a mix of perfume bottles of varying shapes, sizes and colors from your personal collection on the shelf to serve both a useful and decorative function. Allow the bottles to be the focus of this simple decoration.

2. Collect a variety of perfume bottles or purchase plain ones in various sizes from your favorite craft store. Take the bottles to a well-ventilated area and spray paint all of the bottles a single, unifying color. Allow all the bottles to dry and arrange them on a bookshelf or tabletop in a way that is pleasing to the eye. Be creative with your arrangement, repainting the bottles as you change your home decor.

3. Select a single perfume bottle and use a gentle soap and water to clean it out. Purchase one from an antique store or choose one of your own that coordinates with the existing colors of your room. Choose a single stem of your favorite flower and place it in the "bud vase." Set your decoration on a small table or shelf in your home.

4. Create a perfume bottle decoration for your child's room. Give her a plain perfume bottle, or use one of your empty containers.
