How to Hatchet Roots in "RuneScape"
When you train the Farming skill in the online role-playing game "RuneScape," you must plant and harvest several crops, including vegetables, herbs, hops and trees. Trees are unique to the Farming skill because they do not yield food; however, they do yield logs and roots, which are used for Cooking and Herblore, as well as creating bow string and stringing certain amulets. Growing a player-owned tree is extremely profitable when you use the tree as a resource, but if you want to eliminate the tree from the plot and plant another for additional Farming experience, you must remove the entire tree.

Walk to a bank and withdraw your hatchet and a spade.

Travel to the tree that you want to remove. Equip the hatchet on your character.

Click the tree to chop it with your hatchet. You will receive logs in your inventory.

Chop the tree until the tree is empty and a stump appears. If your character stops chopping before the stump appears, your inventory is full of logs. Right-click the logs in your inventory and click "Drop" to drop the logs on the ground or deposit the logs in your bank.

Click the spade in your inventory and click the tree stump to dig the roots and clear the plot. You will receive the roots in your inventory, and the plot is available for you to plant another tree sapling.

Tips & Warnings
Player-owned trees are the only trees that produce roots. You cannot dig the stump of general trees throughout Gielinor.
