Instructions

  1. Applying the Base Makeup

    • 1

Ask the subject to wash his face and dry it with a towel.

    • 2

Apply the base foundation around the eye extending to the cheekbone.

    • 3

Apply the brush just underneath the bottom of the eyelid down to the cheekbone.

    Coloring the Black Eye

    • 4

Brush on a light layer of gray eyeshadow, extending from the eyebrow down to the top of the eye, and underneath the eye socket, stopping at the cheekbone.

    • 5

Apply the purple mousse eyeshadow heavily around the top of the eyelid and below the eye socket.

    • 6

Dab on the blue mousse eyeshadow sparsely to add shadowing where the eyelid creases and around the brim of the eye socket.

    • 7

Trace to enhance the pocket under the eye and the eye socket, using the pencil and eyeliner.

    • 8

Do any touchups with purple as necessary.

Tips & Warnings

  • Black eyes are rarely, if ever, black. They are actually a blend of purple and blue from the burst vessels. As such, perfecting the exact color for each individual takes finessing. It is always better to start with too little than too much.

  • Working around the eyes can be sensitive, and makeup in the eye can sting and cause reddening. Proceed and apply cautiously to avoid any temporary eye damage. Makeup products should not be shared between individuals to avoid eye infections.
