DIY Circle Felt Headbands

DIY Circle Felt Headbands thumbnail
Any style headband can be decorated with felt circles.

Felt is an easy fabric to use when making crafts, home decor and accessories. Because the fabric doesn't fray, the edges can be left raw. It's also soft and pliable enough to be machine- and/or hand-sewn but durable enough to be adhered with standard glue or a hot-glue gun without losing its shape. Making headbands decorated with layered felt circles is a fun and a kid-friendly craft for the beginning crafter or seamstress.

Things You'll Need

  • Felt
  • 3 circle shapes, of three slightly different sizes, to trace

Instructions

    • 1

Lay your felt flat on your work surface.

    • 2

Determine how many layered circles you want on your headband. Take the largest circle shape and place it on your headband. Decide whether you only want one shape, or whether you want to cover the entire top of the band, based on personal preference.

    • 3

Trace around each of your circle shapes. You'll need three progressively smaller circles for each felt decoration on your headband. Either trace circles all of the same color felt, or choose different complementary colors for a multicolored-felt shape.

Top each stack of felt circles with a button. Thread your needle and hand stitch the button to the top of the stack through all 3 felt circles.

Position one felt circle stack on the top edge of your headband.

    • 7

Hand-sew the felt circle to your headband. Poke your needle through the center of the felt circle, wrap the thread around the band and back up through the felt. Repeat a few times to secure.

Create and sew additional felt circles to your headband to preference, using the same technique in the steps above.
