How to Make Stethoscope ID Jewelry
Medical professionals who use stethoscopes for their jobs, as well as most medical students, typically carry their own. With so many stethoscopes in use, it can be easy to lose track of which belongs to whom. One way to identify the stethoscope belonging to a certain individual is to attach ID jewelry containing the identification of the owner as well as other embellishments to make the stethoscope more attractive. Make sure your office allows jewelry before modifying your stethoscope.

1
Measure the metal “U” shape between the two earpieces. This is the best place to place to add jewelry because the U is not essential to the usefulness of the stethoscope and only acts as a stabilizer for the two sides of the stethoscope. Add 2 inches to this measurement.

2
Cut a piece of jewelry chain to equal the length of the measurement. Use wire cutters to trim the chain to the correct size. You can also use pliers to open individual chain rings and adjust the length that way.

3
Attach a jump ring to a chain link wherever you want to add the ID tag, a pendant or charms. Open the rings with jewelry pliers.
-
4
Slide the pendants or charms onto the jump rings. Close the rings with a jewelry clamp.
-
5
Attach a jump ring to each end of the chain. Wrap the chain around the two sides of the “U” shape on the stethoscope. Connect the jump ring a few links down the chain to attach the jewelry securely to the stethoscope. Close the rings with the clamp.
