How to Decorate a Round Foyer

William McCoy

A round foyer at the entrance to your home often gives the home a regal feel. Guests who enter your home's front door will be struck by the open style of your foyer, and round rooms often feel roomier than square rooms of the same size. Regardless of whether your round foyer is large or small, you can add a number of decorating accents to make the area even more impressive. Doing so is especially ideal if you entertain guests in your home on a regular basis.

Step 1

Place a large, circular area rug in the center of the foyer. The rug can be as large or as small as you desire; you can completely fill the foyer with it or just cover the center of the area. The rug should work well with the color of the wall and the flooring.

Step 2

Hang a large, bright light from the ceiling in the center of the foyer. Many foyers are large and may even span two stories. Even if this is the case, a stylish chandelier will not only help light the area, but also help make it more beautiful. The style of the chandelier should match your home's overall feel. If your home is decorated in a modern style, use a light with brushed steel. If you have a rustic look, a thick, wooden base on the light is ideal.

Step 3

Set up tall, circular-shaped vases with tall, flowing dried grasses, branches or other organic material to match the overall color and theme of the foyer. This is especially important if the foyer is tall, because it can look barren without upward-pointing decor. If you can't find vases to match the general theme of your foyer, paint them to suit.

Step 4

Place a semi-round table against one wall that's both stylish and functional. The table not only serves as a structure on which to place decorations such as vases, photos and a colorful table runner, but it can also store keys and other items.
