How to Cut a T-shirt Into Off the Shoulder

How to Cut a T-shirt Into Off the Shoulder thumbnail
Changing the neckline can completely transform a T-shirt.

A few cuts can take a normal T-shirt and give it a young and sensual neckline. The off the shoulder style is a great alternative for a T-shirt with a great print or design that doesn't have a flattering neckline. It is also an alternative to getting rid of an older T-shirt that may have a frayed neckline. Control the depth of the off the shoulder neckline by the amount of fabric you remove, so remove a little at a time to get the perfect length.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay the T-shirt down on a flat hard surface.

    • 2

Cut at the shoulder seam to the bottom of the neckline.

    • 3

Cut just below the neckline in the front of the T-shirt to the other shoulder seam.

    • 4

Cut half of the neckline in the back from one shoulder seam to the other shoulder seam.

    • 5

Pull the shirt from the two shoulder seams to curl the cut seam over and stretch the neckline.

    • 6

Try the shirt on to determine if the hole is large enough to fall off the shoulder. Trim from the front neckline to make the shirt fall lower on the shoulder.
