DIY Bling Hair Flower for a Wedding
Every bride wants to shine on her wedding day, and some brides want to sparkle, literally. One way to add bling to your wedding is to dress up the flowers for your hair. You don’t need to spend $50 or even $100 on a boutique accessory, just a few dollars on a silk flower and some rhinestones. The most important decision you need to make is how you will wear the hair flower. If you will be using it as an accent for an up-do, you can secure it to hairpins. If you will be using it to hold hair in place, you will want to secure it to a French barrette. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions
-
Adding the Bling
-
1
Disassemble the flower, if possible. Some silk flowers can be pulled apart and reassembled, giving you easier access to the petals. Purchase an extra flower for testing purposes.
-
2
Fill a small bowl with the rhinestones to give you easy access to them and prevent you from chasing them around your work surface.
-
-
3
Place a line of superglue around the edge of one of the inside petals. Work from the inside of the flower out to prevent shifting rhinestones before they are dry.
-
4
Grab a rhinestone with a pair of disposable tweezers and place it in the glue nearest your dominant hand to prevent dragging your hand through the glue as you work.
-
5
Continue placing rhinestones as close or far apart as desired.
-
6
Repeat Steps 3 through 5 for as many petals as desired.
-
7
Reassemble the flower, if necessary.
Attaching the Flower to a French Barrette
-
8
Lay the barrette on the work surface clip-side down.
-
9
Run a line of hot glue along the top of the barrette.
-
10
Press the base of the flower into the hot glue and hold until the glue cools.
-
11
Cut 12 inches of clear fishing line and tie a knot in one end. Thread the other end through an upholstery needle.
-
12
Press the needle through the base of the flower from one side to the other.
-
13
Open the clip, loop the fishing line around the barrette and back through the flower.
-
14
Continue sewing the flower to the barrette until you feel the weight of the flower is secure. The number of loops will depend on the size of the flower and the number of rhinestones.
Attaching the Flower to Hairpins
-
15
Cut a 2-inch square piece of felt the same color as your flower.
-
16
Spread superglue on the felt and press the flower into it.
-
17
Turn the flower face down on the work surface.
-
18
Run a line of superglue along one side of a hairpin and press in onto the left edge of the felt.
-
19
Repeat with two more hairpins, placing them on the right edge and the center.
