How to Make a Standing Sandwich Board
A standing sandwich board is a great way to advertise your business. You can even place one in front of your house for a party so you guests know where to stop. 1
Purchase two rectangular particle boards from a home improvement store that most closely fit the size you want your standing sandwich board to be. If there are only large sheets available, purchase a large sheet to saw down.
-
2
If you need to make a board smaller, place the particle board on a level work surface. Draw out the shape and size you want the sandwich board to be using a pencil. Use the measuring tape as a guide to help you draw straight lines.

3
Saw down the particle boards to the dimensions you desire. Be careful to saw in straight lines so that the sandwich board is stable when standing upright. You should now have two matching pieces of particle board.
-
4
Paint one side of each particle board with the paint color you want the background of your sandwich board to be. Allow to dry thoroughly, then flip the particle boards over and paint the other side. Don't forget to paint the edges.
-
5
Lay both particle boards down so that the tops of the sandwich board are next to one another. This is where the hinges will go.
-
6
Place the first hinge so that it bridges both particle boards. Then place the second hinge. Make sure the hinges are in their proper places. You likely want a hinge towards the right and one towards the left. Neither hinge should be at the very edge of the boards.
-
7
Screw in screws that are the appropriate size for your hinges, using a screwdriver. If you don't have an electric screwdriver, a manual screwdriver should work fine because particle board is soft and will take screws easily. Remember that the sandwich board needs to open and close, so there should be a slight gap between the two boards, bridged by the hinge.

Stand the sandwich board up and decorate it however you like with paint.

Tips & Warnings
Consider using chalkboard paint as the background of your sandwich board. This way, you can write on your sandwich board with colored chalks and change its design whenever you please. Chalkboard paint is available at any home-improvement store. You could also use whiteboard paint.
