How to Clean an LG Front Loader Washing Machine

When wet clothes are left inside a front-load washer, including an LG front-load washing machine, mildew or moldy smells may develop. In addition, washing items that are very soiled, sandy or have other debris or residue may leave the washer tub dirty. This dirt, residue or odor may transfer to other items if the washing machine is not cleaned. Most LG front-load washers have a cycle specifically designed for this function that, when combined with other cleaning methods, will keep your washing machine operating at peak efficiency. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Wipe the exterior of the LG washer with a clean cloth and a mild, nonabrasive household cleaner to remove any dirt or debris.

    • 2

Empty any clothes items from inside the tub.

    • 3

Use a clean, dry cloth to wipe the washing machine door, glass and seal, cleaning under the inside folds of the seal as well.

    • 4

Combine ¾ cup liquid chlorine bleach with 1 gallon warm water and dip a clean cloth in the solution. Wipe the door seal carefully, folding back the gasket to clean under the edge as well, to remove any debris or odors that build up on the seal. Follow with a dry, clean cloth and leave the door open until the gasket is dry.

    • 5

Open the detergent drawer and add liquid chlorine bleach to the bleach compartment or powdered laundry detergent to the main wash compartment. Alternatively, place a washing machine-cleaning tablet inside the tub. Close the detergent drawer and the washing machine door. Choose “Tub Clean” and then “Start” from the controls. Leave the washer door open when the cleaning is complete to allow the tub to ventilate and dry before the next use.

Tips & Warnings

  • Clean the washing machine once every three months or more as needed.
