Unlike other types of window treatments, hanging a sheer, scarf curtain is doesn't require complicated hardware or extensive decorating knowledge. According to a study published by the Arizona State University, sheer curtains were preferred to cafe-style curtains or drapes. Things You'll Need

  • Step ladder
  • Curtain rod
  • Curtain brackets
  • Screwdriver
  • Sheer scarves

Instructions

      Hang a decorative curtain rod over the window you want to decorate. Position the brackets evenly so the rod looks straight.

      Stand on a step ladder and hang the curtain rod in the brackets. Find the center of the scarf and position over the center of the rod. Wrap the left side of the scarf around the edge of the rod twice to hold it in place. Wrap the right side of the scarf around the edge of the rod twice to hold that side in place.

      Step down from the ladder carefully and stand back to view the curtain. Adjust the curtain so that both sides hangs evenly. Unwind the ends, one at a time, to adjust the length that dangles down.

      Pin the scarf ends in place with safety pins, hiding the pins behind the folds. Fluff the draped center of the scarf to make it full. You'll have one bunting drape in the center and two long pieces of scarf hanging off each side.

  • Try using scarves in contrasting colors.

  • Accent hanging sheer curtains by placing a scarf over the top of the rod.
