How to Make Men's Necklaces With Cotton Twine
Creating your own necklace is an enjoyable way to build your own signature style. You do not have to be an expert at arts and crafts to make your own necklace. A necklace made from cotton twine can be both masculine and rugged. You can save money by crafting a necklace from simple and inexpensive materials. Twine necklaces are a popular choice in achieving the casual surfer look. They are often worn with cargo shorts, sandals, and baseball caps. This accessory doesn't go with everything, so leave your necklace at home when dressing for professional or other business occasions. Things You'll Need
- Ball of cotton twine
- Pendant
- Beads or charms (optional)
- Tape measure
- Scissors

Cut four lengths of twine from the ball of twine. Two of the four lengths should be somewhat longer than the desired finished necklace will eventually be.The other two lengths will be used to make the knots and should be about six times longer than the finished necklace.

Place the two shorter strands side by side, between the two longer outer strands.

Bring the right strand of twine over the two middle strands and then under the left strand. Then tighten the knot. Repeat this knot over and over again.

Bring the left strand under the middle strands, and then up and over the right strand.

Tighten the knot. Repeat this knot over and over again.

Add a pendant to your necklace.

Braid or twist the ends, and tie them together.

Tips & Warnings
It is recommended that the different lengths of cotton twine should be a different color from the other two lengths; this will not only produce an interesting pattern, but it will help you avoid confusion when you are making your necklace.
Add beads to your cotton twine necklace: simply thread each bead through both base strands and then tie a knot around them. If the bead hole is too narrow, you can attach the beads by sewing them on with bead thread, or looping them to the base strands with wire. Be sure that you have enough twine at the end of the necklace so you can successfully braid or tie them together.
Keep small beads and charms away from young children.
