Instructions

    • 1

Add 1 cup beeswax pastilles, 1/4 cup coconut oil and 1/4 cup stearic acid to a 2-qt. glass bowl. These materials blend to create a soft and long-lasting candle base and can be found in craft and hobby supply stores or online.

    • 2

Microwave the bowl for three minutes or until the mixture thoroughly melts into a clear-colored liquid.

    • 3

Create a 1-oz. blend of scented oil using either essential oil or synthetic fragrance oil for candles. Make the scent any type that you like, since this scent block will be added to other candle creations in the future. Lavender, patchouli, ginger, sandalwood and a wide array of other scents blend into endless scent creations. Use a separate dish and assorted oils to do this task, or simply purchase a blend of scented oil you prefer.

    • 4

Stir the oil blend into the melted candle mixture with a disposable wooden stirring wand. Disposable stirring wands are natural and do not react with the oils as some other materials do. Furthermore, essential oil blends can soak into plastics and shouldn't be stirred with metal in case a chemical reaction occurs. Porcelain or ceramic wands are also adequate for use.

    • 5

Spray the inside of a 12-oz. loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray. You can either use a nonstick loaf pan or a loaf mold specifically for soap making; both are adequate choices. Pour the melted, scented wax into the mold.

    • 6

Set the filled loaf pan aside for eight to 12 hours, giving it adequate time to set and harden. Slide it out of the mold after it is completely dry. The result is a 12-oz. scent brick for making candles. This can be chopped into small cubes and added to plain candle crafts to add scent quickly.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add colorant to your bricks before cubing them to add textured color to your creations. Use an oil or wax-based colorant for making candles or soaps. These items can be found in craft or hobby supply shops.

  • Anchor wicks into your scent brick to turn it into a highly scented brick candle.
