How to Market a Handbag
Marketing is an important aspect in selling any product, including handbags. Fashion still reigns and women’s love for buying handbags is projected to continue to grow. While you may have created the perfect bag that every woman is sure to want, no one is going to buy it if they don’t know it exists. It’s important to be aware of and use every marketing tool available to get your handbag in front of as many women as possible.

1
Use social media to your advantage. Market to women in your social networks. Start a group on Facebook or Twitter for women who love handbags and get your friends to join. Ask them to request that others join as well. You can also start a Facebook page specifically for your handbag and ask friends to "like" it. On your Facebook page you can inform women of new styles to be released and news about your product.

2
Give one of your friends a handbag to use for a month or so. Once people see her carrying it, they'll begin to ask her where she bought it. Word-of-mouth sometimes can still be the best marketing tool. This also can help you get a feel for your target market, the demand and how much you will be able to sell your product for. You can also set up shop at local flea markets to see how women react to your bag.

3
Build a website to showcase and sell your handbag. A website is a must for any new and existing business. For about $10 a month, you can get your website up and running. Services such as GoDaddy.com offer options to get a website up quickly and have design templates to choose from. You can register your domain name through them as well. Choose a domain fitting to your handbag. For instance, if you have a name for your bag, your domain should look something like chosennamehandbags.com.
-
4
List your website on online advertising sites such as AddMe.com and Free Advertising Exchange. Implement a service such as Paypal as a way to receive orders.
-
5
Contact local boutiques that sell handbags and other accessories. Meet with store owners or buyers to present your newest creation. Be prepared to discuss your research into the market, a fair selling price for the handbag and results of your recent marketing successes.
