Lollipops come in a wide range of colors, shapes and sizes.

Traditionally hung at Christmastime as a symbol of both victory and eternity, wreaths have acted as decorations for centuries. Today, wreaths can be used in home décor designs all year round and can be made out of a variety of materials, including unconventional ones such as lollipops. Instructions

  1. Purchase Supplies

    • 1

Purchase your preference of lollipops. Take into consideration the color and design of the wrappers, as these will have a significant effect on the finished appearance of your wreath.

    • 2

Go to your local craft supply store and select a Styrofoam wreath form in the size of your choice. Larger forms require less trimming of lollipop sticks. Select spray paint and ribbon in a color that matches or coordinates with the colors of your lollipops.

    • 3

Purchase craft glue that is approved for use with Styrofoam. If you have a hot glue gun and glue sticks, they are also effective for use with this project.

    Preparations

    • 4

Take the wreath form outside and coat it with a light coating of spray paint. Always follow manufacturer's instructions and use spray paint in a well-ventilated area. Apply as many coats as necessary to achieve the desired color, letting the form dry between coats.

    • 5

Separate the lollipops into piles according to wrapper colors, creating a pile for each color you would like to appear in the finished product.

    • 6

Use handheld gardening shears to trim the stick of the lollipops. The sticks should still be long enough to stick into the wreath form but short enough not to go all the way through the Styrofoam. Exact length will vary based on the size of the wreath form.

    Applying Lollipops

    • 7

Determine what pattern you would like to cover the wreath with. Lollipops can all be one uniform color, be a random mixture of coordinating colors, or appear in sections of colors.

    • 8

Take a lollipop and apply glue to the base of the stick. Push the stick into the wreath form.

    • 9

Repeat step 2, placing lollipops as close together as possible until the entire front of the wreath is covered. The back does not need to be covered if the wreath is to hang on a door or wall, but it can be completely covered if that is your preference.

    • 10

Loop the ribbon around the wreath and tie the ends in a bow from which to hang the wreath.

    • 11

Secure the ribbon to the wreath by tacking in it one or more places with glue.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be creative and experiment with multiple sizes or brands of lollipops in a single wreath.

  • If using hot glue, take care not to touch the glue itself because it could cause burns.
