Instructions

    • 1

Select your shade of purple at the paint store. Shades range from a soft lavender to a deep purple. Lighter shades help to make smaller spaces look bigger, and darker shades of purple work well in contemporary spaces with lots of natural light. Darker shades also work as accent walls. Medium tones work in both small and large spaces.

Remove portable items from the room. Cover your floor and large furnishings with old blankets, a plastic tarp or paint covering sheets in canvas or burlap. Unscrew outlet covers, and apply painter's tape to areas that won't be painted.

    • 3

Paint each wall carefully, and ensure each coat is equal and even. Let each coat of paint dry throughly before adding the next coat of paint. Repeat the process until you have achieved the desired richness of color.

Wait several days to allow the paint to settle before adding mouldings (trim) to the floor and ceiling area.
