How to Change the Drain Hose in a Frigidaire Washer
A Frigidaire washing machine's drain hose typically runs from the pump out to the back of the machine. Purchase a replacement drain hose from an appliance store that sells the Frigidaire brand or order one online directly from Frigidaire. In order to access the drain hose, you need to remove the washing machine's front panel. However, do not let that scare you away from making this repair. You can have the old hose off and the new hose on in under an hour. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Needle-nose pliers
- 2-by-4 wood blocks (2)
- Towel
- Pliers
- Drain hose clamp

Unplug your Frigidaire washing machine from its power outlet. Pull the washing machine away from the wall. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to back out the two screws that hold the top panel onto the washing machine's body. Pull the top panel back and lift it off the washer.

Remove the dispenser drawer by pulling the tab near the back. Take out the screws that hold the drawer housing onto the washing machine's body and the two screws along the control panel's upper edge. Push the control panel's tabs out of the slots and pull it away from the front of the machine.

Open the washing machine's door. Grasp the wire circle that runs around the opening with a pair of needle-nose pliers and pull it out of the gap. Use your fingers to peel back the rubber seal around the opening.

Tilt the washing machine back and slide two 2-by-4 inch blocks under both front support feet. Back out the four screws on the front panel's bottom edge. Remove the blocks from underneath the feet and lower the washing machine. Remove the four screws on the front panel's top edge. Pull the panel away from the washing machine's body.

Lay a towel underneath the pump and drain hose to absorb any water that spills out. Squeeze the arms on the drain hose clamp together with a pair of pliers and slide it down the hose and off the pump. Go to the back of the machine and squeeze the arms on the back drain hose clamp together and pull the hose off the back of the machine.

Pull the drain hose out of the washing machine from the back. Slide a new drain hose clamp onto the new hose. Insert the hose through the back of the washing machine then slide the new hose onto the pump. Squeeze the clamp arms and slide it down the hose and onto the pump. Slide the back drain hose onto the new drain hose's mount and clamp the two hoses together.

Set the front panel onto the washing machine's body. Replace the four screws you removed from the top edge. Tilt the machine up and support it with the 2-by-4 blocks. Replace the four screws along the bottom edge.

Pull the rubber seal back over the front panel's opening and push the wire circle into the gap. Reposition the control panel over the front panel and secure it in place with the screws you removed in Step 2. Insert the dispenser drawer into its housing.

Set the top panel on top of the Frigidaire washing machine's body. Secure it in place with the screws you removed in Step 1. Plug the washing machine back in and slide it back against the wall.
