How to Kill Giant Troll in Waterfall Castlevania
The Swamp Troll is the boss of the Waterfalls of Agharta, in “Castlevania: Lord of Shadows.” He is much larger than the other trolls you encounter. The Swamp Troll lacks any special resistances or weaknesses, so no weapons give any significant advantages against him. The key to defeating the Swamp Troll is patience. His attacks cause large amounts of damage, but are easily avoided. It is better to focus on whittling down his health and avoiding his attacks, than on waging an all-out offense.

Roll sideways to dodge the Swamp Troll’s swings. His attacks are slow, so it is not difficult to avoid his attacks. Initially, he uses a tombstone for a weapon. He pulls up other objects scattered around the area once the tombstone breaks, but this is purely cosmetic. Anything he uses as a weapon functions the same.

Jump to avoid the shock wave, when the troll slams his weapon into the ground. His weapon breaks when he uses this attack, so he usually goes to find another one immediately afterward.

Throw daggers at the Swamp Troll after dodging his attack, if you are in front of him. Throwing daggers provides a steady way to whittle down his health with minimal risk. You can find more daggers in the fighting area by examining the tombstones.

Attack him with your normal weapon attacks, after dodging his attacks, if you end up behind the Swamp Troll. Roll backward to get out of range of his reprisal attack, when he starts to turn. This step provides a slightly faster way to damage the troll, without exposing yourself to too much risk.

Dodge and counter his attacks using these steps until the Swamp Troll starts to glow. This change in appearance signals that you can start a quick-time event -- an interactive cut-scene.

Press the interact button, to start the quick-time event. Two circles appear on the screen, with a smaller circle inside a larger one. The larger circle shrinks in size. Press the interact button again, when both circles are the same size. This event advances each time you correctly time your button press. You must perform this step four times. A controller button is displayed at the top of the screen, after the fourth time you match the circles.

Quickly press the button that is displayed on the screen, to defeat the Swamp Troll.
