How to Decoupage Brick
You can create an original outdoor ornament, such as a house number indicator or a name sign, by decoupaging, or surface gluing, common objects onto a brick. The easiest objects to mount onto the prepared surface are flat paper cutouts or designs, as well as leaves. The objects adhere to the brick once you coat both the brick and the objects with successive layers of special outdoor decoupage medium. You then seal the decoupaged brick with an acrylic sealant so it withstands the elements.

1
Collect objects for your decoupage by collecting fall leaves, cutting pictures out of magazines or old greeting cards, or making cutouts out of rice paper or tissue paper. Spray any delicate objects, such as thin paper cutouts and fragile leaves, with several layers of acrylic sealant and allow them to dry before you work with them.

2
Apply an even layer of decoupage medium to your brick or bricks with a paintbrush. Lay your first layer of objects onto the medium and brush another coat of medium onto the entire surface. Wash your brush thoroughly in clean water.

3
Wait approximately 20 minutes for the first coat of medium to dry and then lay out any additional objects that you want to add to the decoupage. Brush another even layer of medium onto the entire surface. Clean your brush with water once again.

4
Allow 20 minutes for the medium to dry. Lay any additional objects you want to decoupage onto the brick on the existing decoupaged layers and apply another even coat of medium with your brush. Clean your brush to prepare for the next coat of medium.

5
Wait 20 minutes again and brush another coat of medium to the surface. Apply a final coat with your cleaned brush after another 20 minutes has elapsed if you wish.
-
6
Spray the surface with several coats of acrylic sealer, allowing a few minutes of drying time between each coat.
