How to Make Snowman Head Ornaments From a Styrofoam Ball

How to Make Snowman Head Ornaments From a Styrofoam Ball thumbnail
A snowman is a common image used for holiday decorations.

Crafts made out of Styrofoam balls have been used to make everything from holiday decor to gifts to school projects. The white color and rough texture of the balls make for a good base when making Christmas decorations, such as ornaments and snowmen. Multiple balls can be used to make full-sized snowmen for table decorations, while a single ball can be used to make snowmen heads to hang on the tree.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut out two circles from the black felt -- one 3 inches and one 2 inches in diameter -- to form the top hat for the snowman. Cut a 1/2-inch-by-2-inch rectangle and roll it into a 2-inch diameter cylinder. Glue the seam. Glue the 2-inch circle on the top and the 3-inch circle on the bottom of the cylinder.

    • 2

Brush the Styrofoam ball with glue and roll it in glitter. Let it completely dry.

    • 3

Cut out two circles from the black felt for the eyes and a half circle for the mouth. Cut a small triangle from the orange felt to make the carrot nose.

    • 4

Glue the hat on the snowman’s head. Attach a piece of fishing line to the back of the snowman to use to hang on the tree.

Tips & Warnings

  • If desired, you can use googly eyes instead of black felt.
