How to Get Rid of Border Grass
Border, or ornamental, grasses are hardy, quick growing grasses. Unlike turfs, ornamental grasses are left long and form turfs and strands that produce seeds. Border grasses are vertical plants, so the root systems are deep. Be prepared for a long battle as you remove border grasses because all remaining roots will resprout year after year. Dig out the border grass starting at the surface and working downward. Wear gloves when digging to protect your hands.

Pull out any long roots that you find and dispose of them in heavy plastic bags that will be disposed of so as to prevent recurrence or regrowth.

Soak the soil with glyphosate to kill off any remaining roots.
