How to Crochet a Flip-Flop

Fuzzy crocheted flip-flops are a popular accessory among young girls and women. Using eyelash yarn, you can add a fuzzy top to a pair of plain flip-flops turning them into a fashion statement. Make these crocheted flip-flops in colors to match your summer outfits and make your footwear stylish. Using eyelash yarn, the flip-flops are crocheted by single crocheting over the straps.

Things You'll Need

• 2 skeins of eyelash yarn
• Size J crochet hook

Instructions

1. Working with two strands of eyelash yarn as one, tie the eyelash yarn to the far left end of the strap on one flip-flop.

2. Place a size J crochet hook under the plastic flip-flop strap and crochet one single crochet over the strap. Crochet three chain stitches. Repeat this pattern around the strap of the flip-flop until you get to the toe separator.

3. Crochet a single crochet on the other side of the toe separator, stretching the yarn over the top of the strap. Continue in the same pattern until you have reached the end of the strap.

4. Cut the yarn off 1 inch from the hook and pull the tail through the loop. Thread the tail through a tapestry needle and weave the tail in and out of the last few stitches. Do the same for the beginning tail.

5. Repeat Steps 1 through 4 for the other flip-flop.

Tips & Warnings

• Use 3 strands of eyelash yarn for a fuzzier flip-flop.

• Avoid pulling tightly when working with eyelash yarn to avoid breaking the yarn.
