How to Make a Tube Dress Out of Fabric
The tube dress is a fitted, strapless-style dress that clings to the body between the top of the bust and the thigh. It makes an appearance every few years in designer cat-walk collections, and has been worn on the Red Carpet by celebrities such as Heidi Montag, Pamela Anderson and Heather Graham. While the tube dress is renowned for leaving very little to the imagination, it is a simple and versatile number that will accentuate your feminine curves and feel great to wear.

1
Take your bust measurement with a measuring tape. Take a measurement between the top of your bust and the position on your thigh where you would like the dress to end.
-
2
Draw a rectangle with a width that measures exactly half of your bust measurement and a length the same as the measurement between the top of the bust and your thigh on the fabric, with your fabric chalk and a ruler. Draw a second rectangle with the same dimensions on the fabric with a ruler and fabric chalk.

-
3
Cut the two rectangle shapes out of the fabric with sewing scissors. Place the scrap fabric to one side.
-
4
Place one piece of fabric on top of the other with the right sides of the fabric facing inwards.
-
5
Pin the side seams of the dress together with sewing pins, leaving a 1/4 inch seam allowance.
-
6
Fold 1/4 of an inch of fabric over all the way around the top of the dress and pin into place with sewing pins.
-
7
Fold 1/4 inch of fabric over all the way around the bottom of the dress and pin into place with sewing pins.
-
8
Sew along the side seams and around the top and the bottom of the dress with your sewing machine. Sew slowly and remove the sewing pins as you go.
-
9
Turn the dress right side out and try it on.
