Blank metal plaques are stamped to create name tags.

Name tag bracelets are items of jewelry that are imprinted with the bracelet wearers' names. Not only do they look good, but they also serve a practical purpose as they can be used to display important medical information and contact details. Name tag bracelets are traditionally made from stamped metal plaques and adjoining metal chains for the straps, but the straps also can be made out of ribbon. You can change the colors of the ribbon to create a name tag bracelet that reflects your individuality and style.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the tile onto your work space. Place the metal plaque, face up, onto the tile.

    • 2

Write on a piece of paper the name you want to stamp on the metal plaque. Ensure that all the words will fit on the plaque. Tape the piece of paper directly onto the metal plaque in the exact position you would like the words to appear.

    • 3

Pick up the corresponding metal alphabet stamp and position it facing down directly over the same letter on the paper. Tap the end of the stamp with the jewelry hammer several times to create a dent in the metal plaque.

    • 4

Repeat Step 4 with all the remaining letters.

    • 5

Measure the circumference of your wrist. Cut a piece of ribbon that is 3 inches longer than this measurement. Thread the metal plaque onto the ribbon and tie the ribbon around the wrist in a bow or a double knot.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have a metal plaque with two holes, simply cut the ribbon in half and thread a piece of ribbon through each of the holes and secure it in a double knot.

  • Store all metal stamping tools away from young children.

  • Be careful not to strike your fingers when hammering the metal stamps.
