How to Make Song Books
Songbooks hold several pieces of sheet music, typically used for singing. Usually, a songbook is designed around a central theme, such as works by a single composer, song style or an era. You can create and organize your own songbook under any style of music you wish. In addition, you can make a songbook that displays your favorite songs. Thousands of songs remain free in the public domain to copy or download for your personal songbook collection.

1
Collect sheet music for songs in the public domain. Look through songbooks at your local library or purchase them at bookstores or music shops. Look online at music archives for songs with cleared rights. Also, use songs that you or your friends or family have written, if you are given permission to do so.
-
2
Organize the sheet music that you've collected. Make a list of the titles in a desired order for the songbook. Consider organizing the sheet music according to the title, composer, era, genre or choose to order it alphabetically.

3
Make hard copies of the sheet music to put into your song book. If the sheet music is an image or downloadable file, arrange all the songs into a single Word document. Place all the songs in the order you wish to print them.
-
4
Save the Word document to a file on your computer. Print out all the songs for your songbook.
-
5
Punch holes in all the sheet music with a three-hole punch. Punch only a few pages at a time if you have many sheets. Be sure all the pages line up when punching the holes. Print out another copy if you make a mistake.
-
6
Use Microsoft Word to create a cover page for your songbook. Include a simple table of contents to help you find all the music in your songbook. Print and punch holes in both pages.
-
7
Place all the sheet music in a three-ring binder.
