How to Clean Baked-On Stains in a Microwave Oven
Microwaving uncovered food results in splatters, stains and unwanted odors. In most cases, baked-on stains are tough to remove and require plenty of elbow grease. Eliminate the need for strong cleaning products and heavy scrubbing with food acids such as vinegar and citrus. Loosen baked-on grime and neutralize odors with steam to leave your microwave sparkling clean. Fill a microwave-safe bowl with 1 cup of water. Add 1/2 cup white vinegar or chopped, unpeeled citrus fruit to the bowl.

Set the bowl in the microwave and turn it on "High" for two to three minutes. Leave the microwave door closed for 15 minutes to prevent the steam from escaping.

Remove the bowl from the microwave and remove the turntable. Wipe the microwave interior and turntable with a damp sponge to remove any loosened grime or stains.

Dry the microwave window with paper towels and replace the turntable.
