Things You'll Need
- 1/2 yard of 12-inch-wide millinery netting

- 1/2-inch-wide ribbon that matches the color of the netting
- Craft glue
- Needle

- Feathers (optional)
- Pearls (optional)
- Beads (optional)
Instructions

1
Cut the millinery netting so you have a 12-by-30-inch piece. Cut the netting on the non-finished edge for a nicer look. Set the piece aside.
-
2
Unroll the ribbon and glue the end to the edge of the hair barrette. Wrap the ribbon around the side of the barrette and cut. Glue the end down to secure it. Let it dry.

-
3
Place a corner (with a finished edge) of the netting on top of the ribbon on the left edge of the barrette. Stitch it down with the needle and thread.
-
4
Weave the needle in and out of each diamond of netting along the cut edge sides. You will weave around three sides of the veil.
-
5
Pull the thread taught to gather the netting. Arrange the gathers so they lie correctly. Position the barrette on your head to determine if you like the way it falls over your face. Adjust as necessary.
-
6
Stitch the thread to the other side of the ribbon on the barrette when you are satisfied with the gathers.
-
7
Stitch some of the gathers in the netting in the middle of the barrette to secure and reinforce.
-
8
Embellish the top of the netting with feathers, pearls or beads, if desired.
