Instructions

    • 1

Draw a crown shape on a piece of craft paper by drawing an 8-by-6-inch rectangle, then cutting the top long side into triangle points that leave a 3-inch band around the bottom. Cut out this pattern.

    • 2

Trace the pattern twice on white cotton fabric. Cut out both pieces. Layer the pieces with right sides facing each other and sew around the perimeter, leaving a 3-inch opening in the bottom. Stuff with fiber fill and hand sew the opening closed to make a pillow form.

    • 3

Trace the pattern twice on gold-colored felt fabric. Cut out, adding a 1/4-inch seam allowance. Hand sew plastic jewels along the bottom band and on the points of one of the crown pieces. Choose sew-on jewels that have holes through which the needle can pass.

Place the two felt crowns on top of each other, with the right sides facing out. Use yarn and a darning needle to make a blanket stitch to attach from the bottom of one side, around the points and to the bottom of the other side. To blanket stitch, bring the thread up from behind, then pass it back down from the front to the back. Before the stitch is pulled tight, pass the needle through the loop, which draws the stitch up to the edge of the fabric. Repeat all the way around.

Insert the pillow form into the pillow case. Close the bottom with blanket stitch.
