How to Clean the KitchenAid Freezer Ice Container
Many KitchenAid refrigerators come with a built-in ice bin that produces ice as you need it. That feature is certainly useful, but if you do not clean the ice container regularly the ice can take on a decidedly unpleasant odor and color. 1
Remove any unused ice from the bin and place it in a freezer bag or container. Place the bag or container back in the freezer to keep the ice cold.
-
2
Pull the panel covering the ice container out from the bottom and move it toward the back of the unit. Lift the signal arm until you hear it click into the off position.
-
-
3
Lift up the front of the ice storage bin, and then carefully pull it free of the freezer. Set the ice container aside for cleaning.
-
4
Run warm water over the ice container to clean it and remove any caked on ice. Do not use an ice pick or other sharp object to break up the ice, because this could damage the container.
-
5
Wipe the ice container down with a solution of baking soda and water if necessary. Use the baking soda and water to create a paste, and then use a cloth to apply it. Leave the baking soda solution in place for several minutes, and then wash it away with warm water.
