How to Heat Press a Hockey Jersey
Heat presses are used across many different kinds of garment construction to apply designs, lettering and numbers to the fabric. Similar to how an iron-on patch works, a heat press uses the transfer of heat to seal the applique to the fabric, providing a seamless appearance. Pressing lettering and numbers on to a hockey jersey is a straightforward task once you have access to a heat press. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Turn on the heat press and adjust the heat setting to one of the higher settings, as hockey lettering and numbering is thick and requires a high temperature to adhere.
-
2
Place the jersey on the flat surface of the heat press and position the letters or numbers as desired on the jersey. Allow the heat press to fully heat up before proceeding to the next step.
-
-
3
Close the top of the heat press so that it presses against the surface of the lettering. Apply constant pressure down or lock the heat press into place if the press is equipped with such a feature.
-
4
Apply the heat to the jersey for a few minutes until the decals have adhered to the fabric. Check at minute-long intervals if you are unsure how long you should apply the heat.
-
5
Open the press slowly once you have completed the heating process. Do not open it too quickly or you risk loosening or displacing the decals that you've just heated. Allow the jersey to cool before removing it from the heat press.
