Instructions

Measure all sides of your pillow and add 3 inches to the total. This is the amount of trim you will need for your project.

Use a small piece of tape to wrap around each of the ends of the sequin trim to keep the sequins from falling off the edges. Sequin trim can be purchased in different widths.

Begin on the bottom side of your pillow and pin the trim to the edge of your pillow. Make sure you do not stretch the elastic — otherwise, your pillow will pucker when you sew it down.

    • 4

When you get to the corner, make a small fold in the trim and pin. This will keep your corners square.

    • 5

Overlap the sequin ends when you get to the bottom where you started. Fold the top end under the trim to hide the edge.

Hand-sew the trim to the pillow with a running stitch. You can either go across the top of the sequin trim and sew to the pillow fabric on either side, or come up through the pillow and the hole in the sequin and back down through another sequin.

Tips & Warnings

  • When working with the corners and edges, make sure to use narrow stitches. Use a smaller needle so you can sew through the hole of some of the sequins. It is not necessary to sew every sequin.

  • Do not use wide stitches or your trim will sag.
