Determine the amount of money you are willing to spend for your dance party. Most of the activities that will take place in your party is limited by the amount of money you can spend. Setting a limit to your expenses will allow you to avoid spending beyond your budget. Set a date and time for your dance party including the duration of the party.

Look at all the areas inside your home where you can allow guests to stay, such as your living room, porch and garden, then determine the spots where you want to add more chairs and tables to accommodate people. Rent or borrow additional chairs and tables as needed. Determine your home's seating capacity by counting the number of guests you can seat in all available areas.

List down the names of people you wish to invite, but limit their number to your home's seating capacity. Write the names of each guest on invitation cards, then distribute or mail the cards.

List the songs and music you want to play during the party and prepare all the audio recordings in the list. Test your sound system by playing some music and turn the volume up to hear the sound. The volume of your sound system must be loud enough for everyone to hear notwithstanding all the conversations taking place during the party.

Clear the dance area by removing any obstructions along the dance floor, such as furniture and decor on the day of the party. Assign a disc jockey or someone to take charge of playing the music and monitoring the sound system.

Hang a disco ball in the center of the dance floor. Place mood lamps in corners around the house to set the right party mood. Buy any lamps or lighting equipment at least a week in advance to allow you enough time to find the ideal location to place the equipment. Rent any equipment at least a day before the party to allow you enough time to set up the lights.

List the foods and drinks that will be served during the party according to your budget, then set the quantity you need per item. Decide whether you will buy the foods, cook them yourself or have somebody else cook it for you. Locate the spot where you wish to place foods that will be served during the party, then prepare all the necessary utensils and kitchen equipment.

Buy all the ingredients you need a few days before the party for foods you need to cook. For food you need to order, place your order in advance to allow some lead time, but have the food delivered just in time for the party. Assign a person who will be in charge of buying, cooking and serving the food.

Recharge your video and still camera batteries if you plan to use them to record your party at least a day before the party. See if all equipment has sufficient available memory space to record the event, then assign somebody to be in charge of recording the event.

Write down other activities you will hold during the party, such as live presentations by singers, raffles and games. Prepare the necessary paraphernalia to hold these activities. Hang a banner along the entrance of your home to welcome your guests.

Check surrounding areas around your home where your guests can park and advise them beforehand about these locations. Pay particular attention to any parking restrictions within your neighborhood.

Prepare extra garbage bins and bags to accommodate the extra trash that will be generated by the event. Place trash cans in conspicuous locations and have some ashtrays lying around the party area if you will permit smoking. Provide additional bathroom supplies, such as toilet tissue and soap.
