How to Make a Broom Pencil
A "magical" broom pencil is a party favor for kids of many ages. The Harry Potter series of books and movies are popular with children from preschool age to their teens. Make a broom pencil with a few items from a craft store at little cost. These favors are ideal for themed parties, such as Harry Potter, Halloween or an over-the-hill party for a woman's 40th or 50th birthday. Easy to create, children will enjoy helping you make the broom pencils.

2
Cut 10 strips of raffia about 4 inches long with scissors. Arrange the raffia around the eraser and press the raffia into the tape with your fingers. The raffia will extend up above the eraser.

4
Wrap and press gold star garland into the tape making one to two revolutions. Cut off the excess garland with wire cutters and tuck the cut end underneath the garland.

5
Trim some of the top edges of the raffia slightly, to give the broom an uneven appearance.
