Add splashes of color to paper bags before filling them with goodies.

You can find cheap goody bags at any dollar store. But when you want to provide special goody bags, consider crafting them. Keep costs low by using items found around the house, such as old wrapping paper, construction paper and lunch-sized paper bags. Use the paper bag as a base for the goody bag, and then embellish it with pink, red and white in honor of Valentine's Day.

  • Wrapping paper, valentine-themed
  • Cookie cutters
  • Pencil

Instructions

    • 1

Lay the wrapping paper decorative-side-down on a flat work surface.

    • 2

Place cookie cutters on the wrapping paper, and trace around them. Use a variety of cookie cutter shapes: heart, cupid, butterfly, flower, star and lips -- as well as "X" and "O." Trace as many cookie cutters as necessary, to decorate the number of goody bags you are making. Cut out the shapes.

    • 3

Trace your child's hand outline on construction paper. You will need one hand print for each goody bag.

    • 4

Lay one bag at a time on the work surface. Select one of the shapes cut out in Step 2. Spray the unadorned side of the shape with adhesive, and stick it on the middle of the bag. Repeat the process, until all the bags are decorated with a valentine-themed shape.

    • 5

Place one designed paper bag in front of you. Write the word "Happy" above the image and words "Valentine's Day" below the image. Repeat Step 5 on each bag.

    • 6

Write the name of the person who will receive the goody bag on a construction-paper hand. The hand will be stapled to the bag after it's filled, to seal it closed.

    • 7

Fill the bags with treats. Fold the top of the bag over, place a construction-paper hand print on the seam and staple it closed.
