How to Socket Weld
Socket welding a galvanized pipe into a metal socket is not difficult and can be done in just a few minutes. Welding a pipe into a socket is done with fillet welding, using a soldering iron and bead of solder to fasten the pipe to the socket. Socket welding allows you to fasten pipes to a pipe flange as well, giving you the ability to secure the flange with bolts. Does this Spark an idea?

Slide the end of a galvanized pipe into the lip of the metal socket.

Fillet weld the pipe to the socket by heating the solder with a soldering iron and applying a thin layer of solder around the lip of the socket against the galvanized pipe.

Allow the solder to cool down for about 15 minutes and verify that the socket weld is secure by pulling carefully on the pipe.
