How to Become a Bingo Caller
Have you ever been to a charity Bingo event? The callers at these events are often volunteers and may do little more than call numbers and listen for someone to shout, "Bingo!" But there are also professionals who work at Bingo halls running daily games, events and tournaments. You may not need much education but you will need a lot of practice to become a bingo caller. If you have the skills, you can be a professional bingo caller.

1
Become familiar with the rules of Bingo. Memorize which numbers fall into which columns of the board.
-
2
Practice enunciation. You need to be able to call the letters and numbers clearly and loudly so that everyone in the room can hear you.

3
Practice entertaining crowds. Host dinner parties for friends, socialize at group activities and practice keeping people engaged, volunteer to host charity auctions or other events and observe other comedians and emcees at work. As a bingo caller, you are responsible for greeting guests and serving as the master of ceremonies for events. You need to be prepared to entertain and engage the crowd if there is a malfunction.
-
4
Approach Bingo halls and apply to work during their games. If you have trouble getting hired, volunteer for an event or two first, then ask the hall to hire you.
-
5
Meet with Bingo halls to learn what they expect of callers at each hall in terms of your duties, time commitments and your attire. Learn how to use any machinery, computers and projectors involved. Determine if there any scripts you need to memorize.

Tips & Warnings
Many Bingo houses require that new callers train under experienced callers. During this probationary period, be prepared to learn the specifics for your hall. Listen carefully to hear the guests since some may not call, “Bingo,” very loudly.
Bingo callers often have other responsibilities during an event. The median wage for professional Bingo callers is more than $37,000; however, they may asked to be a master of ceremonies or work as a public address announcer, among other jobs.
