Cooking a delicious meal is a rewarding accomplishment. Unfortunately, the accomplishment is fleeting once the cook realizes the tedious task of cleaning up after the meal has not been completed. One of these tasks involves eliminating or deodorizing odors from the oven. Deodorizing is necessary for cooks who continuingly bake or roast, since the oven becomes encased with strong odors from such foods as onions, garlic, herbs and spices. Deodorizing absorbs these odors and quickly removes them from the oven.
Things You'll Need
- 3 cups distilled vinegar
- 1 cup baking soda
- Shallow baking pan
Allow the oven to cool to about room temperature before deodorizing it.
Pour 3 cups of distilled vinegar and 1 cup of baking soda into a shallow baking pan.
Place the shallow baking pan in the oven and let sit for 48 hours. The chemical reaction between the vinegar and baking soda should eliminate odors. After 48 hours, remove the pan from the oven, spill the contents carefully in the sink and wash the pan in warm, soapy water.
