How to Make a Folding Template to Size for a Bowl
Use shaped pieces of acrylic to make a folding template of a bowl, along with fabric material. A hook and loop fastener that has an adhesive backing holds the shape together. One type of folding template that you can make is a dog bowl. This allows you to easily store the bowl when traveling with your pet. To do this, you will need to form the shapes of the template from a sheet of acrylic.

1
Print two copies of the bowl image found in the Resources section to use for the project.
-
2
Cut the shapes from one of the printed templates using a pair of scissors. Trace an outline of each shape on an acrylic sheet with a felt tip marker. Cut the shapes from the acrylic by using the scissors.

Measure a 20-inch by 20-inch square on a piece of fabric. Cut the square shape from the fabric with the scissors. Apply craft glue to the cut piece of fabric. Leave a 1-inch clean perimeter around the fabric.
-
4
Apply craft glue to the end side of the cut acrylic pieces in step 2. Place the triangle piece in the middle of the fabric. Place the 3 oblong pieces on each side of the triangle with a 1/16-inch gap. Press the pieces down to adhere them to the fabric.
-
5
Position the three small triangle pieces at the edge of the oblong pieces where there is a “V” shape. You can also follow the assembly key on the printed document.
-
6
Cut around the perimeter of the acrylic pieces to remove excess fabric. Place one side of the hook and loop on the small triangle pieces. Make sure both pieces of the hook and loop are stuck together.
-
7
Fold the oblong pieces up to form the shape of a bowl. Fold the fabric where two oblong plastic pieces meet and secure with the hook and loop.
