You can easily make a bracelet out of a baseball.

A baseball is almost all white with red seams. These seams are used to hold the baseball together and to help pitchers with their grip. While the main purpose of a baseball is to use it on the field, it can also be used to make a bracelet. The red stitching, combined with the white on either side, is being worn as a new-look bracelet. If you want a bracelet to look like it has been cut from a baseball, all you need is a baseball to get started. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Set a baseball down and inspect it to find a location on it that is in good enough condition to serve as a bracelet. Wipe down the baseball with a clean rag. Add dish soap and water to the rag and remove all visible dirt and debris from the area so the bracelet is clean.

    • 2

Hold the baseball with your non-dominant hand and push a utility knife into the ball at the edge of the red lacing. Follow carefully along the laces with the utility knife, being careful not to cut into the laces. Continue all the way around until the laces have been completely removed from the baseball.

    • 3

Cut along the white part near the laces with a pair of scissors to even it out. Get as close as possible to the red laces without cutting them or the holes they are stitched into. Move around all of the lacing until everything is even.

    • 4

Cut straight through the center of the laces with the scissors so there is no circle anymore, just one long piece of lace. Turn the laces upside down and remove the leftover debris by hand. Fill up a pan with water and soak the laces in water for one hour. Take them out. Stretch them out so they are straight and let them dry.

    • 5

Wrap the lace around your wrist and cut it off with scissors so it fits properly. Pull up the lace from the end of the bracelet with the scissors and tie it to a clasp. Repeat the process for the other side and wrap it around your wrist. Clasp the bracelet together to verify that it fits properly.
