How to Make Embossed Disk Necklaces

Embossed disk necklaces are famous for their ethnic and Arabian-style inspirations. Embossed disks are small metal disks stamped with an embossing stamp to create a raised image on the metal. These disks are made from silver, copper, nickel and other metals. While it is difficult to emboss the metal at home, you can purchase pre-embossed disks and transform them into a statement necklace that will suit a variety of outfit types and styles.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine the layout that you want to use for the necklace. You can link the chains in a single line with the disks between them or you can stack the disks on top of each other for a more Middle Eastern appearance with multiple strands of necklaces. Look at pictures of disk necklaces for inspiration.

    • 2

Punch holes into the sides of the disks in the appropriate location. For multiple rows or one single row, punch holes on either side of the disk. Punch the holes in the disks with a hammer and awl. Punch a single hole into the disks that will go on the bottom layer.

    • 3

Attach a circular jump ring to each hole with jewelry pliers.

    • 4

Cut a chain piece to equal 5 inches long and a piece to equal 7 inches. Use the jump rings to attach the disks to the chain pieces.

    • 5

Attach the chain layers to another section of chain. Make this chain between 5 and 10 inches long, depending on how long you want the necklace to be. Attach a clasp to each end of the chain. Close the clasp with your fingers to join both sides of the chain and complete the necklace.
