How to Make a Fimo Necklace
Fimo is a brand name for polymer clay, a type of clay that is oven bakeable right in your kitchen at home. This is an appropriate craft for jewelry makers of any age, although children should be supervised when using the oven. Available in a wide variety of colors, Fimo can be purchased at most craft supply stores. Any shape you can imagine and create can be baked and strung onto a necklace; experiment with making different textures and color combinations.

Instructions

1
Roll a small piece of clay into a ball.
-
2
Poke a hole through the center of the ball using a needle. Make the hole wide enough to pass the needle through the hole when stringing the beads.
-
-
3
Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for as many beads as you would like to string onto your necklace. Don't feel limited to using the same shape; the Fimo beads can be any size, color or shape you desire.
-
4
Heat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Place all of the beads onto a metal tray. Bake in the oven for approximately 30 minutes. Remove and let cool for about 10 minutes before handling.
-
5
Cut a strand of thread that is the length of necklace you desire, plus a few extra inches for tying the knots around the clasp. Loop your clasp onto on end of the string and tie a knot, securing the clasp in place.
-
6
Thread the non-clasp end of the string onto the needle and begin stringing the beads. Tie the end of the thread in a knot around the other half of the clasp, completing the Fimo necklace.
