How to Make an Easy Peace & Friendship Bracelet

Friendship and peace bracelets are simple or complex crafts created by people to share among family and friends to show affection for each other. They are often tied on each other by friends, and worn until they wear out and fall off on their own. There are many different varieties of friendship bracelet that can be made, some with intricately woven patterns, and others with a simple design of braids or spiraled knots.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the floss into 21 inch pieces. Tie them together in a simple knot at the end. Leave about two inches of floss passed the knot. Tape this down to a flat surface such as a table, so that the bracelet won't move around while you are creating it.

    • 2

Make your first spiral knot. Choose a color of floss and pass it over and under the rest of the floss to form a loop. Pull the end through the loop to create a knot. Pull it snugly to the top and then lay that color of floss down with the rest. Choose your next color and repeat the previous actions. Continue this down the length of the bracelet. As you knot, the pattern should begin to spiral on its own.

    • 3

Measure the bracelet against your wrist. Once it has reached at least 12 inches long, measure it against your wrist to see if it is long enough to be tied on. If not continue knotting the floss. If it is, you can tie off the end with a knot like you did for the top. Tie the bracelet around your wrist and cut off any excess floss.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are making this bracelet for a friend, measure their wrist to get an idea of how long your finished product needs to be.

  • Start with more floss than you think will be necessary. If you make a bracelet that is too long, you can trim it to size. If you make one too short, you will have to start over again with new floss.
