How to Decorate for a Dr. Seuss Baby Shower
Using Dr. Seuss as a baby shower theme is a great way to add whimsy and to keep any children in attendance entertained. It is also a safe theme, as you would be hard-pressed to find anyone who dislikes Dr. Seuss books, and the mother-to-be is likely looking forward to reading these books to her child. Whether you decide to throw a toned-down Dr. Seuss baby shower or an all-out Seuss extravaganza, your guests will appreciate your efforts and enjoy themselves. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Decide whether you want a general Dr. Seuss party or a theme focused on one book, such "The Cat in the Hat," which would be great if you intend to surprise your guests with fun activities, or "Horton Hears a Who," which would work if you plan a scavenger hunt.
-
2
Find as many Dr. Seuss-themed party elements as possible, including hats, napkins, plates, tablecloths, balloons, streamers and anything else you intend to use. If you prefer less obvious decor, purchase party supplies in the color palette of one Dr. Seuss book or print large color copies of Dr. Seuss illustrations to place around the room.

3
Communicate with the guests ahead of time to coordinate outfits that fit within a Dr. Seuss theme. For example, ask everyone to wear blue socks as seen in "Fox in Socks." For a less-obvious spin, they can all dress in colors according to the palette you chose for the shower.
-
4
Surprise the guests with Dr. Seuss party props, such as blue wigs for Thing One and Thing Two, yellow mustaches for the Lorax, or Santa hats to represent "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." Make sure your guest of honor receives a distinctive prop.
-
5
Prepare food in the style of Dr. Seuss. The most obvious choice is to make green eggs and ham by adding a few drops of green food coloring to these foods. More creative ideas include decorating a cake or cupcakes to resemble Dr. Seuss characters and scenes, such as the rainbow chimney on the cover of "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" Serve fish-shaped crackers in a fishbowl in reference to "The Cat in the Hat," or serve blue pudding or oatmeal for the Blue Goo seen in "Fox in Socks."
