How to Make a Chopsticks Holder Out of the Chopstick Paper

A chopsticks holder, or a chopsticks rest, holds your chopsticks in place on the table when you're not using them during your meal. Chopsticks are typically used in Asian cuisine and may be given to you when you go for a night out at an Asian restaurant. While it is acceptable to place your chopsticks on the chopsticks rest, chopstick etiquette requires that you do not place your chopsticks upright in your rice or pass food around the table to your friends with your chopsticks.

Instructions

    • 1

Take your chopsticks out of the wrapper. If you have to pierce the wrapper to open them, do so carefully, only pulling off enough to pull the chopsticks out.

    • 2

      Fold your wrapper widthwise twice.

    • 3

      Fold the wrapper lengthwise once.

    • 4

Pick the wrapper up and push down on the top of the wrapper to make an indentation so that the wrapper forms a trapezoid. Repeat on the other side.

    • 5

Place the wrapper on its back and press the middle portion inward so your chopsticks holder looks as though it has an open mouth.

    • 6

Place the holder on the table with the middle indentation side down. Put your chopsticks on top.
