How to Hang Tab Top Curtains Over Sheers
Sheers are a light and airy way to cover your windows. They allow light into a room and create an open feel in your living space. Sometimes you might need more privacy than a sheer provides. You can install tab top curtains over sheers to provide added privacy when needed. Tab top curtains can be hung on a decorative curtain rod with mounts that extend beyond the curtain rod for the sheers. Select a curtain rod that matches the style of your room. Things You'll Need
- Decorative curtain rod, with mounts and screws
- Drill
- 1/16-inch drill bit
- Screw gun
- Tab top curtains

Hook a decorative curtain rod into the included mounts at each end by sliding the rod into the openings on the mounts. Hold the curtain rod and mounts against the top molding board above the window opening. Position the mounts just above the sheer curtain rod so the tab top curtains will conceal the top of the sheers. Mark the location of the mounting holes in the mounts onto the top casing board with a pencil.

Drill a 1/2-inch deep hole into the top casing board at each pencil mark using a drill equipped with a 1/16-inch drill bit.

Hold the curtain rod and mounts in place against the top molding board so the mounting holes in the mounts line up with the drilled holes. Drive the screws that were included with the curtain rod and mounts through the mounting holes into the board to secure the rod assembly to the window casing.

Remove the curtain rod and slide the tabs of the tab top curtain over the rod. Hook the curtain rod back in place in the mounts.
