How to Get the Bow & Arrow in "Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time" for the GameCube
The bow and arrows have been a staple in the "Zelda" games ever since the series began on the Nintendo Entertainment System. Usuall,y you get the ranged weapon in one of the first couple of dungeons you visit, but "Ocarina of Time" shakes that formula up a bit by withholding the Fairy Bow until Link completes the "childhood" portion of the game.

Play through the game normally until you have access to the Forest Temple. This is the first dungeon Link encounters as an adult.

Go through the forest temple until you come to the room where a Stalfos enemy walks across a large pit. Do not follow the Stalfos across the pit, as you will fall through.

Kill the Stalfos. This will cause a large elevator to descend into the room carrying two more Stalfos.

Defeat the two Stalfos quickly. If you take too long defeating the second one, the first one will resurrect himself.

Open the large treasure chest that appears after you defeat the Stalfos. The chest contains the Fairy Bow.
