1
Fill your kitchen sink about half to three-fourths full with hot water depending on how large your pants are.
-
2
Add 1/2 bottle of liquid dye to the hot water and stir to mix them evenly. If using powder dye, dissolve it in 2 cups of hot water before adding it in. Wear rubber or plastic gloves during this process to prevent from staining your skin.

3
Wet your pants or jeans in the hot water and squeeze out any excess water. Lay them in the dye bath. Move the jeans around with a pair of large tongs, turning them over and swishing them back and forth for the dye to absorb.
-
4
Soak the jeans or pants for 20 to 30 minutes for a deep, black color. Drain the water from the sink.
-
5
Rinse the pants with warm water to get out any excess dye, then switch to cool water. Throw the pants in your washing machine with a mild laundry detergent and run on a cool water cycle.
-
6
Air-dry the pants or put them in the dryer on a low tumble. Empty the lint trap beforehand to avoid any fuzzing or lint on your black pants.
