How to Make Colored Macaroni
Colored macaroni is perfect for arts and crafts time at school or on a rainy day at home. Making your own colored pasta is a simple process that takes up very little time but will entertain your children longer. Colored macaroni can be used for making necklaces, pictures and cutesy decorations, all by your creative child's hands. Proudly display their artwork on the fridge or walls to show them you care.

Pour 1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol into a zip lock bag and add about 10 drops of food coloring. Close the bag and shake it well to mix the ingredients.

Open the bag and add 2 cups of pasta. Close the bag and shake it vigorously to distribute the color onto the macaroni.

Lay the bag flat on a table or counter top for about two or three hours for a deep, bold color. For lighter colors spread the macaroni out on a some waxed paper and allow it to dry overnight. Drain the alcohol into the sink before spreading the macaroni out.
